Friday Night UC Hoops: Homecoming at Livingston Academy

The DeKalb County high school basketball teams will make the trip to Livingston, Friday night, to battle the Wildcats and Lady Wildcats in a District 7-3A doubleheader. The night will be a bit more special at Livingston Academy however, as it will be Homecoming night.

The Lady Wildcats (19-3, 6-1 District) currently sit in a three-way tie with Cumberland County and White County atop the District standings, just past the midway point of the district schedule. DeKalb County (13-9, 3-5), meanwhile, sits in fourth place, three-and-a-half games behind the district leaders. Livingston won the earlier meeting in Smithville, 54-45, back on January 4.

The Wildcats (12-9, 5-2) have won four of their past five games, with all five of those games being decided by five points or less. Like the girls, the LA boys are also in a three-way tie for first place in the District standings, sharing the lead with Cumberland County and Stone Memorial. DeKalb County (11-10, 3-5) is looking to make up some ground in the standings, and helped themselves with a 61-45 win over White County on Tuesday. The Tigers have won two of their last three games, and will look to avenge a 63-61 overtime loss to the Wildcats, January 4, in Smithville.

In other games, the Clarkrange Lady Bulldogs (16-6, 3-3) will travel to Red Boiling Springs in hopes of avenging a 57-56 loss to the Lady Bulldogs (15-5, 2-4) back on January 13.

The Cookeville Lady Cavaliers (22-0, 4-0) seek to keep their perfect record untarnished with a District 9-4A game at Green Hill (7-13, 2-2), while the Cavaliers (12-12, 2-2) will face a tough challenge in the nightcap against the Hawks (16-3, 3-1).
