Friday Night Light’s Recap: DeKalb Co Storms Spring Hill

DeKalb Co 38, Spring Hill 15

The DeKalb County Tigers trailed 9-0 early on Friday night, but proceeded to score 38 unanswered points en route to a 38-15 win over Spring Hill.

Class 4A Mr. Football Semifinalist Axel Aldino finished with four total touchdowns for the game (three rushing, one passing), and Colby Barnes added a rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter.

DeKalb County will host Nolensville next Friday for the Second Round of the State Playoffs.

Clay Co 21, Copper Basin 0

Quarterback Keaton Arms threw for two touchdowns and the Bulldog defense picked off three passes in a shutout 21-0 win over Copper Basin.

Arms tossed touchdowns to Brison Burchett and Carson Sharp, while Alec Kerr scored the third touchdown of the game on the ground. Burchett and Sharp also each recorded an interception on defense.

Clay County will hit the road again next Friday, as they take on Gordonsville.

Upperman 43, Signal Mountain 41

The Bees battled in a back-and-forth game against Signal Mountain, but a stop on a two-point conversion attempt in overtime proved to be the difference in a 43-41 victory for Upperman.

Ty Dutchess scored the game-winning touchdown on a 10-yard scamper into the endzone, and he topped it off by converting the two-point attempt. Dutchess finished his night with 122 yards and four touchdowns on 24 carries, while Terrance Dedmon added 71 yards and two scores on 13 carries.

The Bees will host Loudon next Friday in the Second Round.

Monterey 61, Sale Creek 22

The Monterey Wildcats took a couple shots from Sale Creek early in their First Round matchup on Friday, but a strong end to the first half led to a dominant 61-22 win for the Wildcats.

After Sale Creek took a 6-0 lead, Monterey scored 21 unanswered points to hold a 21-6 advantage. Sale Creek responded with a touchdown to answer, but Monterey closed the half out with two more scores and they held a 34-14 lead at the break.

The Wildcats will face a stiff competitor next week when they travel to take on South Pittsburg.

Mt. Juliet 17, Warren Co 13

The Pioneers were in Wilson County to face Mt. Juliet on Friday night and battled for four quarters, but it wasn’t enough in the end, as the Pioneers lost by a final score of 17-13.

C.J. Taylor capped Warren County’s historic season with 196 yards, and scored from 13 and 70 yards out for the Pioneers’ points.

Warren County finishes the season with an 8-3 record.

Nolensville 38, Livingston Academy 14

The Wildcats got on the board first, but just couldn’t get the stops they needed in a 38-14 loss at the hands of Nolensville.

Nathan Carwile started the game with a 20-yard run to give LA a 7-0 lead, but Nolensville scored 38 unanswered points to take full control of the game. Nathan Cowgill found Bryer Mosley from 20 yards out for the Wildcat’s last score, but it wasn’t enough in the defeat.

Livingston Academy finishes the season with a 6-5 record.

Loudon 42, York Institute 7

The York Institute Dragons got off to a slow start on both sides of the ball and it led to the end of the season with a 42-7 loss to Loudon.

Zack Gibson scored the lone touchdown of the evening on an eight-yard touchdown run, and Mikaela Reagan added the extra point. Gibson ran for 30 rushing yards on the night, while Ben Cooper added 39 to lead York. Isiah Strong threw for 73 yards, but also threw two costly interceptions.

The Dragons ended the season with a 3-8 record.

Tullahoma 49, Stone Memorial 8
