Friday Night Girls Hoops Recap: York Wins 10th Straight, Defeats DeKalb County

York Institute 58, DeKalb County 47

The York Institute Dragonettes took down DeKalb County on Friday by a final score of 58-47 for their 10th straight win.

Gabby Beaty led all scorers with 21 points, while Haylee Johnson added 12 points.

Ella Van Vranken led DeKalb County with 16, while Kadee Ferrell scored 11 points. Megan Cantrell added 10 points.

The Dragonettes take on Cannon County on Tuesday, while DeKalb County will take on Livingston Academy.

Upperman 55, Livingston Academy 24

The Upperman Lady Bees are now 21-0 on the season, as they defeated Livingston Academy by a final score of 55-24.

Reagan Hurst scored a game-high 17 points, while Abigail Johnson posted a 15-point, 15-rebound double-double. Aiyana Levy scored 12 points.

Hailey Cronk led the Lady Cats with eight points.

LA will face Smith County on Saturday, and Upperman will play the same team on Tuesday.

Van Buren 63, Bledsoe County 31

The Eaglettes won their 11th straight game on Friday with their 63-31 win over Bledsoe County.

Emily Allen led a balanced scoring attack with 15 points, while Kaitlin Crain added 12 points. Layla Bouldin scored 11 points, and Emma Scoggins scored 10 points.

Van Buren’s next contest will be at Hardy Memorial on Tuesday.

Cookeville 51, Warren County 21

The Lady Cavs moved to 3-0 in district play with their 51-21 win over Warren County on Friday.

Cassie Gallagher led all scorers with 13 points, while Bailey Gillies scored 11 points.

Mia Hobbs led Warren County with seven points.

Cookeville is scheduled to take on Knoxville Catholic on Saturday, while Warren will take on Franklin on Monday.

Clay County 74, Monterey 34

The Lady Bulldogs got off to a hot start in Friday’s game against Monterey, and it led to a dominant win over the Lady Wildcats.

Katie Arms led all scorers with 23 points, and Rachel Copass added 13 for Clay County.

Lindsey Wright led Monterey with 12 points.

Monterey will take on Jackson County on Tuesday, while Clay County will face Clarkrange on Tuesday.

White County 84, Rhea County 43

The Warriorettes used a tough defensive first quarter to take control of their game against Rhea County on Friday, winning by a final score of 84-43.

Gracie Dodgen led the way with 22 points, while Nia Powers and Mia Murray each added 18 points.

The Warriorettes will be back in action on Tuesday when they head to Crossville to take on Stone Memorial.

Stone Memorial 47, Brentwood Academy 45

The Lady Panthers took home a big victory on Friday, as they defeated Brentwood Academy on the road by a final score of 47-45.

Mattie Buck led the effort with 19 points and six assists, while Tessa Miller put together a 13-point, 12-rebound double-double.

Annah Goss scored four points, with her biggest points being the game-winning free throws with less than a second remaining.

Stone’s next contest is another important one, as they host district rival White County on Tuesday.
