Friday Night Girls Hoops Recap: Lady Cavs Take Down Warriorettes In Sparta

Cookeville 60, White County 43

The Cookeville Lady Cavs earned a district win over White County on Friday by a final score of 60-43.

Bailey Gillies put together a 10-point stretch in the third quarter to lead Cookeville into the fourth with a 41-30 lead.

KK Graves led the Lady Cavs with 19 points, Cassie Gallagher added 16 points. Gillies ended the game with 12 points.

Cookeville’s next game will be on Tuesday when they take on Stone Memorial, while White County will play Cumberland County.

York Institute 60, Kingston 21

The Dragonettes moved their record to 12-3 overall with their 60-21 win over Kingston on Friday.

Haylee Johnson led all scorers with 25 points, while Gabby Beaty scored 14 points.

The Dragonettes will be back in district play on Tuesday when they take on Watertown.

Stone Memorial 49, Warren County 34

The Lady Panthers are now 2-0 in district play after taking down Warren County by a final score of 49-34.

The Lady Pioneers struggled offensively in the first half, as they only scored six total points. They picked up the pace and cut the lead down to 15, but they were unable to complete the comeback.

Tessa Miller led all scorers with 22 points for Stone Memorial. Shelby Smartt led Warren County with 11 points.

Stone Memorial will take on White County on Tuesday, while Warren County will take on Franklin County on Saturday.

Upperman 87, Cannon County 33

The Lady Bees continued their undefeated streak to start the season with their 87-33 win over Cannon County on Friday.

Reagan Hurst added to her torrid scoring streak of late with a game-high 25 points, while Torie Brooks added 16. Aiyana Levy scored 15 points.

Upperman now sits at 19-0 on the season, with a 7-0 mark in district play.

The Lady Bees will take on the Macon County Tigerettes in battle of two state contenders on Tuesday.

Clay County 67, Gordonsville 33

Lockdown defense led the Clay County Lady Bulldogs to a 67-33 win over Gordonsville on Friday.

Clay only surrendered four points in the first quarter, and seven in the fourth to seal the victory.

Rachel Copass and Katie Arms each led the way with 15 points.

The Lady Bulldogs will take on Whitwell on Monday.

Macon County 71, DeKalb County 57

The DeKalb County Lady Tigers lost a hard-fought battle to Macon County on Friday by a final score of 71-57.

The Lady Tigers trailed by only a point after one quarter, but an eight-point second quarter led to a 35-21 deficit at halftime.

Kadee Ferrell led DeKalb County with 19 points, while Megan Cantrell added 13. Ella Van Vranken scored 12 points.

DeKalb County will be back in action on Saturday when they take on Sequatchie County.

Pickett County 95, Monterey 59

The Lady Bobcats used an explosion on offense on Friday to take down Monterey by a final score of 95-59.

Kyndal Ludick led all scorers with 39 points for Pickett County.

Lindsey Wright led Monterey with 22 points, and Mackenzie Raleigh added 14 points.

The Lady Wildcats will be at Van Buren on Saturday, while Pickett will take on Clarkrange on Tuesday.

Van Buren 60, Marion County 34

The Eaglettes took down Marion County on Friday by a final score of 60-34.

The third quarter proved to be the difference-maker, as the Eaglettes outscored Marion by a 15-3 count to take a 50-30 lead into the fourth quarter.

Emily Allen led all with 14 points, while Layla Bouldin added 12.

Van Buren takes on Monterey on Saturday.
