Friday Night Girls Hoops: Dodgen’s Late 3 Leads White County Over Stone Memorial

The Warriorettes won a back-and-forth battle on Friday night over the Stone Memorial Lady Panthers by a final score of 45-43.

After Stone took a 43-42 lead on a pair of Keaton Freitag free throws, Gracie Dodgen nailed a three with 3.1 seconds left to give the Warriorettes a lead they wouldn’t relinquish.

Dodgen led the way with 17 points for White County, who will likely face Stone Memorial again in the District Tournament.

Tessa Miller led the Lady Panthers with 13 points, and Mattie Buck added 12.

Cookeville 71, Rhea County 25

The Lady Cavs held Rhea County to just two points in the opening frame, which set the tone for a dominant 71-25 win for Cookeville.

They weren’t done there either, as they outscored Rhea 28-8 in the second frame to take a 45-10 lead into halftime.

Liv Shipman had the game-high scoring honors with 17 points, while Cassie Gallagher added 10 of her own.

Van Buren 60, South Pittsburg 33

The Eaglettes closed a dominant regular season slate out with a 27-point win on Friday over South Pittsburg.

Van Buren took control of the game from the jump, as they held South Pitt scoreless in the first quarter and led 21-0 at the end of the frame.

This led to a 21-8 halftime lead, and the Eaglettes cruised to the victory from there.

Emily Allen led all scorers with 16 points, while Layla Bouldin scored 11 points.

York Institute 61, Watertown 44

York closed out the regular season with a 17-point win over district foe Watertown on Friday,

Gabby Beaty produced one of her best games of the campaign with 18 points, and Haylee Johnson added 14 points.

York will now have a bye in the district tournament.

Clarkrange 55, Cumberland County 34

The Lady Buffaloes finished off a season sweep of Cumberland County with a 55-34 win over the Lady Jets on Friday.

Kaylie Monday led all scorers with 16 points, and Kassie Monday followed close behind with 14.

Abby Houston led Cumberland County with nine points.

Red Boiling Springs 40, DeKalb County 34
