Friday Night Boys Hoops Recap: York Knocks Off Upperman In Baxter

York Institute 60, Upperman 57

The Dragons took down the Bees for a big district win, tying them for the top spot in the league.

Nic Smith led a balanced effort for the Dragons with 17 points. Bryson Bilbrey and Riley Cooper each scored 13 points, and Jon Heddings added 12 points.

Alex Rush paced the Bees with 16 points, while Collin Gore scored 15 points.

York will head to Livingston on Monday, while Upperman will host Watertown on Tuesday.

Clay County 77, Jackson County 65

The Bulldogs remained undefeated in district play, as they took down Jackson County on Friday.

Grant Strong strengthened his Mr. Basketball resume with a 41-point outing to lead all scorers. Jeff Spivey added 14 points, while Keaton Arms  scored 11 points.

Jordon Arroyo led the way for Jackson County with 23 points. Eli Burris scored 19 points on the strength of three three-pointers, while Ramon Cuevas scored 16 points.

Clay County will take on Pickett County on Tuesday, and the Blue Devils will be at Red Boiling Springs.

Clarkrange 65, Monterey 52

The Buffaloes ended a four-game skid with a 13-point win over Monterey on Friday.

Anthony Cottle put together one of his best games of the season with 22 points to lead all scorers, while Haden Smith added 14 points. Conner LaRue scored 10 points.

LT Sullivan led the Wildcats with 15 points, with Tucker Phillips following close behind with 14 points.

Clarkrange will be at Stone Memorial on Saturday, while Monterey will be at Gordonsville on Tuesday.

Livingston Academy 58, Smith County 45

The Wildcats won their fifth straight game on Friday, as they defeated Smith County by a final score of 58-45.

Isaac Story led the effort for LA with 15 points, and Nick Choate scored 10 points.

Livingston will take on Cannon County on the road on Saturday.

Pickett County 78, Red Boiling Springs 27

The Bobcats picked up another district win on Friday, as they take down Red Boiling Springs by a final score of 78-27.

Will Amonett and Heath Wattenbarger led the way 12 points each, while Zach Amonett added 11 points.

Pickett will now prepare for a rematch with Clay County, as they host the Bulldogs on Tuesday.

Stone Memorial 59, Rhea County 52

The Panthers bounced back from their tough loss to White County on Tuesday with a 59-52 win over Rhea County on Friday.

Chris Coudriet produced a big game for Stone, as he led the way with 20 points. Matthew Bilbrey added 16 points.

Stone will host Clarkrange on Saturday.

Warren County 71, White County 69 (OT)

The Pioneers exacted a measure of revenge on Friday by defeating White County in overtime by a final score of 71-69.

White County’s Grant Slatten and Warren County’s C.J. Taylor tied for game-high honors with 33 points apiece.

Tanner Paul added 23 points for the Warriors.

White County will head to Cookeville on Tuesday, while Warren County will take on Franklin on Saturday.

Watertown 66, DeKalb County 62
