Friday Night Boys Hoops Recap: Jackson County Earns Hardfought Win Over Pickett County

Jackson County 67, Pickett County 62

The Jackson County Blue Devils picked up a big district win on Friday night over Pickett County by a final score of 67-62.

Eli Burris led the way for Jackson County with 20 points, while Hayden Stacey scored 16 points. Kendrick Brown added 10 points.

Hunter Wattenbarger led all scorers with 30 points, while Will Amonett added 14 points for Pickett County.

Jackson County will face Trousdale on Monday, while Pickett County will host Cookeville.

Clay County 74, Red Boiling Springs 33

The Bulldogs got off to a 19-2 run to start the game and never looked back in their 74-33 win over Red Boiling Springs.

Grant Strong led all scorers with 22 points in limited minutes, while Gunnar Silk added 17 points. Jeff Spivey scored 10 points of his own.

Clay County will take on Macon County on Saturday.

Gordonsville 55, Clarkrange 35

The Buffaloes started slow for the second night in a row on offense, and it ultimately cost them in a 55-35 loss to Gordonsville.

Haden Smith led the way with 11 points for Clarkrange, who only scored nine points in each of the first two quarters to trail 32-18 at halftime.

Anthony Cottle and Evan Cantrell each scored eight points of their own.

Clarkrange will host Stone Memorial on Tuesday.

Stone Memorial 74, Cookeville 63

The Panthers avoided any lulls on offense in their 11-point win over district rival Cookeville.

Will Hecker led a balanced scoring effort on Senior Night with 19 points, while Kaleb McCoy followed close behind with 17. Jack Eldridge added 13 points.

Colin Ayers led Cookeville with 21 points, and Windle Oakley scored 11.

Stone Memorial will head to Clarkrange on Tuesday, while Cookeville will take on Warren County.

Trousdale County 51, Monterey 42

Offensive struggles in the first half ultimately doomed the Wildcats, as they fell to Trousdale by a final score of 51-42.

Brandon Dillon led Monterey with 14 points, while LT Sullivan scored 11 points of his own.

Monterey will take on Warren County next Thursday.

Livingston Academy 71, Watertown 51

The Wildcats continued their hot streak in a 20-point win over Watertown on Friday.

Matthew Sells led all scorers with 27 points, while Eli Melton added 15.

Leading by 10 at halftime, Livingston outscored Watertown 25-15 to spread the lead out to 20 heading into the final frame.

The Wildcats will take on DeKalb County on Saturday.

Warren County 66, Rhea County 53

The Pioneers outscored Rhea County 23-6 in the fourth quarter to take home a 13-point district victory on Friday.

C.J. Taylor scored 38 points to lead all scorers, and Dee Spates added 17 points.

Warren County will host Cookeville on Tuesday.

York Institute 64, Macon County 53

The Dragons bounced back from their tough loss on Thursday with an 11-point win over Macon County on Friday.

Riley Cooper led the way for York with 19 points, while Jon Heddings scored 12 points.

York will be taking on Livingston on Tuesday for their next contest.
