York Runs Over Grundy

York Institute (2-1) scored early and often Friday night against Grundy County downing the Yellow Jackets 48-14.

Thomas Miller scored on the second offensive play from scrimmage, for the Dragons, with a 43-yard touchdown run. Zack Gibson ripped off a 44-yard run for six on the next possession for York.

York rushed 43 times for 317 yards and five touchdowns. Miller lead the way with 13 attempts for 131 yards followed by Gibson with five attempts for 59 yards. Ben Cooper rushed eight times for 58 yards and Nathaniel Caste added 49 yards on nine carries.

Quarterback Jonah Durham completed two of three passes for 48 yards and two touchdowns with a long of 28 yards. Thaddeus Thoman caught both touchdowns from Durham.

York out gained Grundy County 364 to 215 in total yardage. The Dragons gave up 19 total yards rushing. Both of Grundy county’s touchdowns came late in the fourth quarter.

York host Grace Christian Academy (0-3) from Franklin, Tennessee next Friday night in Jamestown.
