White Co. Ends Losing Streak With Win Over Cannon Co.

The streak is broken. For the first time since 2016, the White County Warriors celebrated a victory in football by defeating Cannon County 17-6 on Friday night in Sparta.

On offense, White County tallied over 200 yards rushing behind the tandem of senior Will Griggs and junior Jayden Richmond. Griggs led the way with 105 yards rushing and a touchdown, and 52 receiving yards as well. Richmond contributed 71 yards on the ground.

Senior quarterback Sedrick Leftwich passed for 76 yards with one touchdown and one interception. He also rushed for 39 yards.

Defensively, White County kept the Lions in check for most of the night, allowing only 50 yards rushing and 45 yards passing.

Senior Bradley McBride and sophomore D.J. Paul each finished the game with an interception. Junior linebacker Kade Clark racked up eight tackles and a sack.

Next week, White County travels to Cumberland County to take on the Jets.
