Cavs Fall At Home To Riverdale

The Cookeville Cavaliers (0-3) fell Friday night to the Riverdale Warriors (3-0) 35-17 in Cookeville.

Cookeville opened the game with a 13-play 80-yard touchdown drive. Stockton Owen capped off the drive with a 10-yard touchdown run.

The Warriors scored 21 unanswered points from the end of the first to midway through the second quarter.

Owen scored his second rushing touchdown of the night, from 8 yards out, after a nine-play 74-yard drive. Cookeville trailed 21-14 at the break.

Cookeville went three and out on their opening drive of the second half. Riverdale took possession on the Cookeville 48 yard line. Seven plays later Warrior running back Drew Smith scored from two yards out.

Andy Crockett knocked down a 23-yard field goal attempt with 3:41 remaining in the third quarter after a 10-play 70-yard drive. Riverdale tacked on one more touchdown to finish off the scoring for the night.

Owen finished 17-30 through the air for 195 yards. He also rushed 17 times for 17 yards and two scores.

Brayden Nives caught six passes for 83 yards and BJ Billen hauled in four passes for 46 yards.

Next week Cookeville travels south down 111 to take on Rival White County.
