Blue Devils Lose 35-7 To Westmoreland

The Jackson County Blue Devils (1-2) fell to Westmoreland High School on Friday night by a final score of 35-7.

Westmoreland opened the scoring at the 4:56 mark of the first quarter when quarterback Ryker Cook lofted a 58-yard touchdown to Seth Woodard for a 7-0 lead. Cook added two touchdown runs, one in the second quarter and one in the third, to run the lead up to 21-0.

The lone score came with two minutes left in the third quarter when quarterback Eli Burris found Gage Clark for a 23-yard touchdown that cut the deficit to 21-7, but that was all the offense they could muster as Westmoreland defeated the Blue Devils by a final score of 35-7.

Burris finished the night 13-24 passing for 146 yards, and he ran the ball five times for 16 yards. Wid Robbins led the team in rushing with 20 carries for 90 yards. Through the air, the Blue Devils were led by Clark’s four catches for 49 yards and a touchdown.

Tyson Leduc led the way on the ground for Westmoreland, as he ran the ball 15 times for 153 yards. Cook added 52 yards and a touchdown on six carries.

Jackson County will host Red Boiling Springs next Friday at 7 P.M. for their week four showdown.
