Five Eaglettes Named To All-District Team
The accolades are pouring out for the Van Buren Volleyball team, as five members of their team were named to the All-District team on Thursday night.
Senior Gabrianna Young, Juniors Emma Scoggins and Jadeah McCurry, sophomore Riley Scoggins and freshman Greta Rigsby were all honored as part of the team, after the Eaglettes went undefeated in district play during the regular season.
Both Scoggins, McCurry and Rigsby were also named to the District All-Tournament team after they defeated the Coalfield Jackets in the District Tournament Championship on Thursday.
Young rounded out the accolades, as she was named the Tournament MVP, something she even admits she didn’t see coming.
“Getting MVP was something I never expected,” Young said. “I know I play my heart out, but it felt amazing.”
The Eaglettes will now host the Regional Tournament, beginning on Monday.
