Early Turnovers Too Much To Overcome For Bees Football

Upperman’s football season came to an abrupt end Friday night as the Bees fell to Red Bank 21-14 in Baxter.

Upperman fumbled near mid field early in the second quarter. Senior quarterback Donoven McCallister also threw an interception in the end zone with under a minute to play before halftime.

The Red Bank lead stood at 21-0 with 5:38 to play in the third quarter.

McCallister connected with Trey Snider on the first play of the fourth quarter to trim the deficit to 21-7.

The Upperman defense forced a Red Bank fumble that the Bees converted into seven points on the next drive.

McCallister scored the final touchdown of his high school career from one yard out with 6:09 to play in the fourth quarter.

Red Bank lined up in anticipation of an Upperman onside kick. Trey Krolick kicked it deep down field and pinned Red Bank inside the 10 yard line.

Red Bank managed to run out the remaining six minute of the fourth quarter.

Red Bank tallied 257 yards of total offense on 54 plays while Upperman managed 249 yards on 48 plays.

On third downs Red Bank converted 9/15 for a 60 percent conversion rate and Upperman went 1/7 for a 14 percent conversion rate.

McCallister finished his high school football career 27-5 as the starter for Upperman. McCallister completed 18-24 passes for 180 yards with one touchdown and one interception. McCallister also rushed 19 times for 57 yards and a touchdown.

Daniel Metzgar caught eight passes for 96 yards. Trey Snider caught three passes from McCallister for 35 yards and a touchdown.
