Eaglettes Lose First District Game At Whitwell

Van Buren County’s girls basketball team lost their first district game on the road at Whitwell Tuesday night 59 to 40.

Things got side ways for the Eaglettes in the second quarter as they were outscored 21 to 6. Over the other three quarters Whitwell only outscored Van Buren County by four points.

Van Buren County converted 10 of 18 free throws compare to only 7 out of 13 for Whitwell. Whitwell knocked down eight, three point shots compared to only two for the Eaglettes.

Layla Bouldin and Emily Allen each scored 11 points for Van Buren County.

The loss drops Van Buren to 9-6, 1-1 on the season. The Eaglettes play Grundy County Friday night in Spenser.
