Eagles Start Fast, Hold Off Comeback Bid Against Bledsoe Co

The Van Buren County Eagles exploded for 26 first quarter points, on their way to a 69 to 61 non conference victory over Bledsoe County.

The Eagles would score a combined 26 points over the second and third quarters as they took a 52 to 36 lead into the forth and final period.

Bledsoe County did outscore Van Buren County 25 to 17 in the forth quarter but it still was not enough. Each team connected on nine shots from behind the arch. Bledsoe County held an advantage at the free throw line as they hit 14 of thier 18 free throw attempts compared to 10 of 15 from the Eagles.

Jacob Guy led all scorers with 21 points for Van Buren County. Austin Hodges threw in 16 points of his own and John Allen scored 10.

The win improves Van Buren County’s record to 6-13, 3-0. The Eagles travel to Carthage this Tuesday to take on Gordonsville in a non district affair.
