Dragonettes Win Opening Game Handily Over Cumberland Co.

The York Institute Dragonettes opened their season with a bang, defeating the Cumberland County Lady Jets by a final score of 63-40.

After starting slow with only 25 first-half points, the Dragonettes hit their offensive stride in the second half with 16 points in the third and 22 in the fourth to pull away.

Haylee Johnson led the team in scoring with 17 points, and shot 11-12 from the free-throw line. Gabby Beaty added 14 points of her own, while Ellie Leffew rounded out the trio of double-digit scorers with 11 points.

The Dragonettes will be back in action on Friday at Bledsoe County.
