Dragonettes Win Low-Scoring Affair Over Watertown

The York Institute Dragonettes closed their regular season out with a 44-43 win over Watertown.

The game was tight from the jump, and York’s defense held strong in the first half to give themselves a 19-11 lead at halftime.

Watertown strung together some offense in the third, and the Dragonettes were down 28-26 heading into the final frame. With the game hanging in the balance, York won the fourth by an 18-15 count to earn the 44-43 win.

Gabby Beaty led all scorers with 16 points, while Haylee Johnson battled through an ankle injury to produce 10 points of her own.

The Dragonettes will begin play next week in the district 8AA tournament.
