Dragonette Basketball Downs Maplewood

The York Institute Dragonettes advanced to the championship game of the Sergeant York Christmas Invitational with their 41-35 win over Maplewood on Friday.

York led 20-18 at halftime, but found themselves down 29-28 heading into the final frame.

This is where the Dragonette defense locked down, as they held Maplewood to just six points in the fourth quarter to take home a win by a final score of 41-35.

Haylee Johnson scored a game-high 22 points, while Gabby Beaty added 10 of her own.

They will play on Saturday in the tournament championship game.
