Cross Country: Voyles Classic Results

The Cookeville Cavaliers girls cross country team finished third in Class 3A in the 2019 Voyles Classic on Aug. 31. behind Brentwood Academy and Independence High School.

CHS standout Landri Wilcox finished second overall with a time of 18:25, while teammate Annie Kate finished 27th with a 20:52 mark.

Wilcox came in behind Fred J. Page High School’s Leigh Walters, who finished with a 18:04 time.

Other finishers for the Cavaliers included Emily Coonce (21:50), Maddie Long (22:42), Zoe Bear (22:48) and Julia Matheney (25:43).

The Cookeville High School Boys team finished 11th in Class 3AA, and were led by Keith Wiley’s time of 17:55. Wiley finished 50th overall.

Austin McCowan finished with a time of 18:35, and Jacob Sparks finished right behind him at 18:36. Ike Synnestvedt came in at 19:28, and Ethan Kopinski rounded out the times with a 19:29.

The Warren County High School boys team finished 27th overall in 3A, and Aleczander Smith led the way with a time of 20:12. James McLaughlin finished second on the team with a 22:38 mark.

The DeKalb County High School boys team took home 36th place in Class 2A, finishing just behind Westmoreland High School.

The Tigers were led by Aaron Gottlied’s 19:07, while Luke Jenkins was the only other runner to finish below 20 minutes at 19:50.

Other finishers from DeKalb included Bryan Godinez (20:22), Cooper Brown (21:49) and Andrew Tramel (22:52).
