Cookeville Lacrosse Head Coach Elliot Woods Looks Forward to This Season and Beyond

The TSSAA recently approved Lacrosse to become a fully sanctioned spring sport starting in the 2024-2025 school year.

While that is two seasons away, Elliot Woods has been working toward this decision for more than a decade.

Now the Head Coach for the club team at Cookeville High School, coach Woods also serves on the TSLA competition committee and was instrumental in helping get the sport approved.

We had a chance to speak at length with coach Woods.

He was so excited, not just by the decision, but by his teams early success this year.

The Cavalier club team has been extremely competitive for several years now, and have already started off the year 3-2. Including being on a two-game win streak they hope to extend against Clarkesville Friday night.

Coach Woods did not mince words when he described what he felt the sport, and these athletes, can bring to the table. He was also very careful though, pointing out how much work their still is to do as we now countdown the days over the next few seasons.
