Clay Co. Football Defeats Jets, Move To 4-0

The Clay County Bulldogs (4-0) defeated the Cumberland County Jets on Friday by a final score of 29-0.

After a scoreless first quarter, Alec Kerr took the ball 18 yards to the house to get the Bulldogs an 8-0 halftime lead.

Kerr added a six-yard touchdown in the third quarter to extend the lead, and Wyatt Burks added a 35-yard interception return touchdown to run the score up to 20-0 heading into the fourth quarter.

Clay County’s defense earned a safety early in the quarter, and Will Ogletree finished off the scoring with a five-yard touchdown run as the Bulldogs earned their fourth victory of the season by a final score of 29-0 over the Jets.

Bulldog Quarterback Jake Ashlock finished the game 9-17 passing for 119 yards and an interception, as Clay Co. really found success in the ground game. As a team, they ran the ball nine times for 117 yards.

Jets Quarterback Trevor Parsons finished by completing eight of his 14 pass attempts for 132 yards and three interceptions.

The Bulldogs will host Gordonsville next week at 7 P.M., while Cumberland takes on Macon County at home.
