Childress, TSSAA Still Optimistic For Championships

Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association Executive Director Bernard Childress said he feels that if schools are back in session by April 24th that they can complete the girls and boys basketball tournaments along with Spring Fling.

In a teleconference held last week Childress stated that the TSSAA could finish the basketball tournaments within the same week.

Childress purposed that the girls tournament, which is in the semifinal round, could play the semifinal games for all three classifications on a Monday, with the championship games for all three classifications held on Tuesday. The current plan in to continue to play at the Murphy Center in Murfreesboro.

The boys tournament would being on that Wednesday following the girls championship games on Tuesday. The boys tournament would run Wednesday through Saturday, again at the Murphy Center.

Spring Fling, is the championships for five spring sports, could still held through late May or early June if needed.

“The athletes need to know we are trying to save their season,” Childress said.
