Cavaliers Stumble At Home To Top-Ranked Oakland

The Oakland Patriots (5-0), the number one ranked team in the state of Tennessee in Class 6A, beat the Cookeville Cavaliers (1-4), 49-0 Friday night in Cookeville.

The Cavaliers forced Oakland to punt on their first two drives of the game. Kody Sparks, Oaklands quarterback, found DeArre McDonald for a 52-yard touchdown two plays into the Patriots third drive.

Oakland forced four Cookeville turnovers, two fumbles and two interceptions, and seven punts and two turnovers on downs.

The Patriots out gained Cookeville 355 to 145 in total yards on the night. Oakland scored two touchdowns through the air, three touchdowns on the ground and had a kick return and an interception return for a touchdown.

Cookeville quarterback Stockton Owen completed 12-19 passes for 70 yards. Owen added nine carries for 22 yards on the ground.

Cavalier running back Cameron Harris carried the ball four times for 21 yards. Jacob Stamps tallied 13 carries for 14 yards.

Cookeville travels to Coffee County next week to take on the Red Raiders at 7 p.m. in Manchester.
