Cav Boys Win Warren Co. Invitational, Girls Take 2nd

The Cookeville High School boys golf team won the Warren County Invitational Golf Tournament on Tuesday, finishing with a combined score of 322.

Individually, freshman Jakob Smith finished first overall with a 77. Sophomore Luke Caldwell was right behind Smith with a 78, as both of them helped Cookeville finish 22 strokes ahead of second-place Cumberland County (344). Overall, 10 total boys teams competed.

Smith’s performance was highlighted by a hole-in-one on the sixth hole.

The Cavaliers girls team put up a good showing as well, as their two teams finished second and third behind Tullahoma. The team of Daniella Pryor and Lexus Julian finished second in the field of eight by defeating the team of Hope Homar, Savannah Pearson and Lucy Carwile in a playoff hole.

Individually, Pryor finished second overall with a 83. Homar and Pearson tied for the lead on their team, as they each put up a 92.

Cookeville’s next match will be on Sept.5 at the Hidden Valley Golf and Country Club.
