Bulldogs Fall To White Co Football Thursday

Clay County (6-2) and White County (5-3) battled down to the final minute of Thursday nights showdown in Sparta. White County running back Kade Clark scored from one yard out, with 1:16 in the fourth, to give the Warriors the final advantage 21-18.

White County quarterback Sedryk Leftwich opened the scoring with an eight yeard touchdown run with 6:27 to play in the first quarter. Clark scored his first touchdown of the night for the Warriors three minutes later for one yard out. Clark’s touchdown gave White County a 14-0 advantage in the first quarter.

Over the second and third quarters Clay County scored 18 unanswered points. Quarterback Jake Ashlock scored for one yard out early in the second quarter.

At the 6:45 mark in the second Ashlock connected with Will Ogletree on a throwback screen pass that Ogletree took 57 yards down the right sideline for a touchdown.

Ashlock threw his second touchdown of the evening to Alec Kerr from 15 yards out with 1:31 to play in the third quarter.

Ashlock finished the night 14/26 for 171 yards and two touchdowns through the air. He added on 49 yards rushing and a score on the ground as well. Olgetree ran the ball nine times for 32 yards and caught nine passes for 127 yards and a score.

Leftwich  completed 6/11 passes for 87 yards and an interception. Leftwich also carried the ball 15 time for 87 yards and a score.  Clark finished the night with seen carries for 28 yards and two touchdowns.

White County plays Macon County next week in Sparta at 7 P.M. Clay County travels to Monterey in a battle for the Region 4 Single A championship.
