Bulldogs Basketball Voted As Lead Team For District 6A

The Clay County Bulldogs have been picked to win District 6A, as of Media Day on September 25.

Clay County is coming off of a season that saw them go 29-4 and 12-2 in district play, all of which led to them making an appearance in the State Tournament before Covid-19 put a halt to the season.

Pickett County was picked to finish second in the league, as they bring back their main core in Zach and Will Amonett, John Parker Reagan and Slayde Copeland.

The Jackson County Blue Devils were picked to finish fourth, a year after the boys team went 10-16 overall and 4-10 in the district. They return Eli Burris as one of their main cogs.

Monterey was picked sixth overall, and like Clay County, the Wildcats are coming off of a State Tournament berth. They will also be looking to replace the production of Peyton West, Kevin Borjas and Jaxson Billings.

Clarkrange was picked to finish 7th overall after going 5-25 last season, including one district win over Jackson County. They’ll be replacing a lot of production as well for first-year coach Shayne Monday, as they lose Gatlyn LaRue, Keith Whited and Nate Hall.
