Bulldog Golf Splits Match With Monroe Co

The Clay County Bulldog Golf Team had mixed results in their first match of the season on Thursday with Monroe County.

The boys team managed a victory over the visitors by shooting for a team score of 176, while Monroe County shot a 197. The Bulldogs were led by Zach Schmucker’s 40, followed closely by Aden Smith’s 42.

Jeff Spivey shot a 45, and Caleb McLerran added a 49. Colton Smith rounded out the team with a 51.

The girls team fell just short to Monroe by just eight strokes, as they shot a 112 compared to the visitor’s 107.

Eliza Jenkins shot a 54 to lead the Lady Bulldogs, while Lexi Head added a 58 to bring them to their final score.

Zoe Seber shot a 61, while Katie Burnette notched a 65. Kenady May shot a 67, but all three of these scores were thrown out, as only the top two scores are taken.
