Bobcats Advance To Region Semi-Finals Against Van Buren Co

The three seeded Pickett County Bobcats traveled to Spencer, to take on the two seeded Van Buren County Eagles.

Pickett County defeated the Eagle 54 to 45 on Saturday night to punch their ticket to the region semi-final game against Clay County Tuesday night at Livingston Academy.

Pickett County led from the end of the first quarter on. The Bobcats owned a 13 to nine lead after the first. Van Buren County could only muster four, second quarter points against Pickett County’s 11.

Each team dropped in 13 third quarter points. The Eagles outscored Pickett County by two points in the fourth 19 to 17.

Van Buren County’s Jacob Guy went off for a game high 31 points as he was the only Eagle to score in double figures.

Seven different Bobcats found themselves in the score book for points. Will Amonett led the Bobcats with 12 points. Luke Smith added 11 points of his own, and Slayde Copeland dropped in 10 points of his own.

Van Buren County finishes the season with an overall record of 10-18, and 6-0 in District Five, Single A play.
