Blue Devils Battle Back, Win In Overtime

The Jackson County Blue Devils boys basketball team erased an double digit first half deficit, to force overtime and eventually knock off Pickett County 75 to 68.

The Blue Devils trailed by 12 at halftime by a score of 38 to 26. Jackson County outscored Pickett 23 to 12 in the third quarter to draw within one point with one quarter to play.

Jackson County tied the game up at the end of the fourth quarter at 60 a piece. The Blue Devils tallied 15 fourth quarter points to eight for Pickett County for the final margin.

Pickett County’s Zach Amonett scored a game high 24 points in a losing effort. John Parker Regan added in 12 points while Will Amonett scored 11 for the Bobcats. Mark Smith rounded out the double digit scorers for Pickett County with 10 points.

Jackson County had five players score in double digits against the Bobcats. Jordan Arroyo scored a team high 21 points wile Jacob Hardy added in 16 points of his own. Eli Burris followed Hardy closely with 15 points and Aiden Smith and Chris Pigg each scored 10 points each.

The loss drops the Bobcats to 15-10, 7-7 on the season. Pickett County will play against Warren County, in McMinnville, on Thursday.

The Blue Devils improve their regular season record to 9-15, and 3-10 in district play. Jackson County will play in Monterey this Tuesday.
