Ashlock’s Double-Double Leads Bulldogs Past Pickett Co

The Clay County Bulldogs defeated the Pickett County Bobcats on Tuesday by a final score of 61-45.

The two teams battled back-and-forth in the first quarter, and it was Clay County who took a one-point lead into the second.

Both teams struggled offensively in the frame, and it allowed the Bulldogs to take a 28-21 lead into halftime.

The Bobcats made some strides towards coming back with a 16-14 scoring advantage in the third quarter, but the offensive struggles returned in the fourth.

Clay County held Pickett to just eight fourth-quarter points and it all added up to a 61-45 win for the Bulldogs.

Jake Ashlock led all scorers with a 22-point, 10-rebound double-double, and Grant Strong scored 20 of his own. Mason Sharp added 10 points.

Zach Amonett led Pickett Co with 18 points, and John Parker Reagan added nine.

Clay will take on Monterey in the Region Championship on Thursday.
