Allen Named 5A MVP, Van Buren Dominates Awards

The Van Buren Eagles and Eaglettes were well-represented in the District 5A awards, as John Allen was named the District MVP award winner.

Head Coach and Athletic Director Dustin Sullivan was named the Boys Coach of the Year after leading the Eagles to a 13-10 record and a 6-0 mark in district play.

Adam Simmons, Jason Stevens and Will Wrisner were each named to the All-District First Team, while Taylor Hillis was named to the Second Team.

For the Eaglettes, Head Coach Tyler Sapp was named the Girls Coach of the Year after Van Buren went 22-2 and 5-1 in district play.

Emma Scoggins, Emily Allen and Layla Bouldin were each named to the All-District First Team, and Riley Scoggins represented the Eaglettes on the Second Team.

Both teams will be playing for the District Championship, as the Eaglettes host Whitwell on Monday night. The Eagles will take on South Pittsburg on Tuesday at home.
