Aldino, Taylor Among Semifinalists For Mr. Football Awards

The Upper Cumberland has two players among the semifinalists for the 2020 Tennessee Titans Mr. Football Awards.

From Class 4A, DeKalb County’s Axel Aldino joins Troy Parker Hughes (Elizabethton), Bryson Rollins (Elizabethton), Rivers Hunt (Hardin County) and Jakobe Thomas (Tullahoma) as semifinalists.

Aldino put up 2,567 yards and 31 total touchdowns (21 passing, 10 rushing) over the course of the season to lead the Tigers to a 6-4 record and their first Region Championship in 58 years. The Tigers are set to host Spring Hill.

Warren County Senior Quarterback/Defensive Back C.J. Taylor was named as a semifinalist for Class 6A, as he’s led the Pioneers to an 8-2 season that included an 8-game winning streak. Taylor joins Raymond Banner (LaVergne), Jake Briningstool (Ravenwood), Jaxson Campbell (Independence) and Jalen Hunt (McMinn County) as the semifinalists for the awards.

Over the course of the season, Taylor put up 2,388 total yards and 27 total touchdowns (21 rushing, six passing). He is the Pioneer’s first Mr. Football semifinalist and he leads them into Mt. Juliet on Friday for their playoff game.
