A Look At The Remaining UC Sports Nation Playoff Teams

With their wins on Friday, DeKalb County, Monterey, Clay County and Upperman are all moving on to the second round of the State Playoffs.

Let’s take a look at the matchups each team will face next Friday.

Monterey Vs. South Pittsburg

The road to the Class 1A State Championship was always going to run through South Pitt, and Monterey Coach Scott Hughes always knew that. The last time these two met, South Pittsburg won by a final score of 53-15.

DeKalb County Vs. Nolensville

The Tigers defeated Spring Hill thanks to 38 unanswered points after falling behind 9-0, and now they get a chance at a revenge game against Nolensville. These two teams met in the playoffs last year in a game the Knights won by a final score of 42-6.

Clay County Vs. Gordonsville

The Bulldogs will also get a shot at some revenge, as they fell to Gordonsville 20-0 earlier this season.

Upperman Vs. Loudon

The likely game of the week features the 8-3 Bees and the 9-2 Redskins. Upperman is coming off of a 43-41 overtime win over Signal Mountain, while Loudon toppled York Institute 42-7. The last time these teams met was in 2018, a game the Bees won 44-14.
