D.C. police are investigating seven shootings that left 11 people wounded overnight across the city. The incidents, which unfolded within just nine hours, have prompted multiple ongoing investigations by the Metropolitan Police Department.
Timeline of the Shootings
5:37 p.m. – Yuma Street SE
Officers were called to a hospital after two juveniles arrived with injuries. Police said both girls were conscious and breathing — one had been shot, while the other was hurt in a fall. Investigators believe the shooting occurred in the 800 block of Yuma Street SE. No suspect information is available.
5:49 p.m. – 50th Street SE
Sixth District officers responded to the 200 block of 50th Street SE after a teenage boy was shot. He was conscious and breathing when found. The suspect was described as a Black male wearing a blue winter jacket with hair in a bun.
7:30 p.m. – 16th Street NW
Third District officers were dispatched to the 3100 block of 16th Street NW, where they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. Police confirmed he was conscious and breathing. No suspect details have been released.
8:18 p.m. – Savannah Terrace SE
Seventh District officers rushed to the 1900 block of Savannah Terrace SE after reports of a shooting. They found a 5-year-old boy with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the face. The child was conscious and breathing when transported for treatment.
8:23 p.m. – Howard Place NW
Third District officers responded to the 600 block of Howard Place NW, where they found five victims: three men, one woman, and a male teen. All were conscious and breathing. Police arrested two suspects at the scene and recovered three firearms.
9:54 p.m. – Benning Road NE
Fifth District officers were called to the 1700 block of Benning Road NE for another shooting. They found two men with gunshot wounds; both were conscious and breathing. The suspect was described as a Black male wearing a black puffy coat and light-colored pants.
1:56 a.m. – Hiatt Place NW
Early Saturday morning, Third District officers responded to an apartment building in the 3200 block of Hiatt Place NW. Inside, they discovered a man who was semi-conscious and barely breathing from gunshot wounds. Due to the seriousness of his condition, homicide detectives were called to take over the investigation. Police described the suspects as two Black males — one heavyset with a dark complexion, about 30 years old and wearing a ski mask; the other of medium complexion, about 5’6″ tall, and wearing a black Moose Knuckles jacket.
