Tyson Beef Shutdown Wipes Out 4,900 Jobs as $426M Collapse Closes Nebraska’s Largest Plant

Tyson Foods has confirmed the permanent shutdown of its massive beef processing plant in Lexington, Nebraska, bringing an end to one of the region’s largest employers. The closure, scheduled for January 2026, will cut approximately 3,200 jobs.

Company executives said dwindling cattle supplies forced the decision, ultimately shutting down a facility that has supported the local economy for more than 30 years.
