Bakersfield police arrested a 34-year-old man after officers allegedly discovered more than 50 pounds of methamphetamine hidden inside his vehicle during a traffic stop on Ming Avenue.
Police said the stop happened around 7:20 p.m. on Thursday, December 4, 2025, when an officer pulled over a vehicle in the 3200 block of Ming Avenue for a moving violation. During the stop, the officer’s K9 partner, Liam, alerted to signs that narcotics might be inside the vehicle.
BPD Impact Officers then searched the car and reportedly found about 51.5 pounds of suspected methamphetamine concealed in the cargo area.
Detectives from the Bakersfield Police Department and CHP Officers assigned to the DEA and HSI Task Force arrived at the scene and took over the investigation, along with DEA and HSI Special Agents.
The suspect was taken into custody as the multi-agency investigation continued.
