Hit-and-run case leads to apprehend of man accused of traveling from Oregon to molest minor in Auburndale

A man who traveled from out of state to Auburndale and was accused of providing minors with alcohol and attempting to have sex with them was discovered by the child’s mother and arrested during a crash investigation.

According to the Auburndale Police Department, Jesus Moisesbravo Beltran, 26, is charged with transmitting harmful material to minors via electronic device, unlawful use of a two-way communication device, lewd and lascivious molestation, traveling to meet a minor, interference with child custody, lewd and lascivious battery, and contributing to a minor’s delinquency.

Auburndale officers responded about 10 a.m. Saturday to a hit-and-run collision reported near the Walmart on Highway 92 West, making contact with Beltran—who was driving the suspect car—and discovering a 15-year-old child in his passenger seat, according to the release.

According to the statement, when the child’s mother arrived at the scene and recovered the child’s phone, she discovered a text message thread between Beltran and the youngster in which Beltran reportedly communicated sexually explicit verbiage, images, and videos.

The child informed police that Beltran gave them alcohol while the two were together and that they blacked out after drinking it. When they awoke, the child stated that their shorts had been removed and Beltran’s head was “down there,” according to authorities.

Beltran was thus arrested to face the first five counts listed above.

Within a few days, investigators who conducted a forensic interview with the child revealed that Beltran had held the youngster down and later faced two accusations of lewd and lascivious battery, as well as contributing to a minor’s delinquency.

According to investigators, Beltran went from Umatilla, Oregon, to Auburndale, a distance of around 2,900 miles.
