A villager was detained in Spanish Springs following an alleged attack on his lady companion.
At around 8 p.m. Tuesday, a witness saw a man, later identified as 49-year-old Jimmy Drury of the Historic Side of The Villages, arguing with a woman, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department.
The witness stated that Drury’s lady friend was attempting to get into her car and latch the driver’s door when Drury rushed in, raised his fist “well above the driver’s door, and then came down striking the victim.” The woman started ranting and struck Drury in the back. He “took two steps back and slapped” her.
Drury’s lady companion informed police that the altercation began because Drury was communicating with another woman. Drury and his lady friend had been in “an intimate relationship on and off again for two years,” according to the story. She informed police that Drury “had been drinking all day and was highly intoxicated.”
Drury was arrested on the accusation of assault. He was booked into Lake County Jail and released after posting a $1,000 bond.
