15 years for Arizona woman convicted of violent assaults on her girlfriend

Arizona – A woman with a prior violent record, convicted in a brutal domestic violence case in Arizona, will spend more than a decade in prison, prosecutors announced Monday.

The Arizona Attorney General’s Office said Christina Albert received a 15-year sentence for domestic sexual assault. She also received a concurrent 7.5-year sentence for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in a domestic violence case.

Prosecutors said Albert repeatedly beat, choked, and sexually assaulted her girlfriend between May and June 2023. A copy of the indictment showed that the crimes took place in Maricopa, Pima, and Yuma counties.

Albert, who was sentenced on Nov. 4, was also ordered to register as a sex offender and cannot have any contact with the victim.

“Domestic violence is a serious crime that will not be tolerated in Arizona,” state AG Kris Mayes said in a written statement.

Prison records showed she was previously convicted of attempted aggravated assault and attempted sexual conduct with a child in 2012. Records also noted incidents of fighting and disorderly conduct during her last prison term.
