The Upper Cumberland was well-represented on Monday, as three different boys basketball players were selected as nominees for the USA Today’s Player of the Week award for last week.

First is Pickett County Junior Zach Amonett, who continued his excellent campaign with 18 points in a win over Livingston Academy on Monday. He followed that up the next night with 17 to lead all scorers against Red Boiling Springs, and he finished his week with a 27-point outing against Clay County.

The Bobcats will take on Jackson County in Gainesboro on Tuesday.

Speaking of Clay County, Junior Grant Strong was also named a nominee after three more excellent performances. He led his team to a 3-0 week with a 23-point, 11-rebound double-double against Jackson County, 33 points and 12 rebounds against Pickett County and finally, he put up 30 points in a win over Trousdale County.

Clay County will be at Red Boiling Springs for their next contest on Tuesday.

Finally, White County Senior and Mississippi signee Grant Slatten is also up for the honor. This comes on the heels of a 28-point outing he put together in a 70-55 win over Coffee County on Friday.

White County takes on Warren County in McMinnville on Tuesday, a potential preview of the district championship game later this season.
